In warm weather, Spotted Seatrout are most commonly found over grassy or shell-strewn flats,
but they inhabit a great variety of water from the surf to coastal rivers and have been known to roam fairly far offshore.
Tend to move to deeper water during cooler months. |

Most fish caught range between 1 to 2 lbs, but fish up to 4 lbs are common in nearly all areas of its range, and specimens exceeding 10 lbs may pop up in some places.
The maximum potential is more than 15 lbs. Most of the biggest fish are caught from Florida's East-Central coast. |

| Angling Qualities |
As a gamefish, it is not considered particularly strong or swift, but it offers hard strikes and makes a fun opponent on light tackle.
Only the big ones are drag-takers, but all put up a showy, surface-thrashing fight, and occasionally jump clear of the water. |
