Habitat Lakes, ponds, sloughs and backwaters and slow moving sections of streams and rivers.  Tend to prefer holding near vegetation or structure such as submerged wood, but will also suspend in open water.  Prefers clear water.
Size On average, tends to carry the same trophy potential as Black Crappie, with a 17 inch, or 3 lb fish regarded my most anglers as a true trophy.
