I'm looking for the *actual* *number* here, so if you don't know hook sizes, don't answer if you're trying to keep your percentage up. "Fairly small" or "No bigger than an inch" or other estimations or descriptions won't work in this case. Thanks. : )
I usually used a #5 or smaller for crappie, it depended on what bait I was using. A lot of times I would jig them with a 1/16 Oz or lighter jig with either a twister tail or minnow, sometimes with a small piece of nightcrawler
when I am chasing crappie i usally use lures small panther marten spinners black and gold or silver and yellow but most the time I use jigs small Lindy curl tail grubs in in purple green with glitter in the tail red and white.
but I also use small tube jigs in several colors red and green with sparkles is my favorite lately i have been using a small ice jig called a Rat Finkee in green size 12 i just tip it with a small piece of worm and let it dangle about three feet below my bobber and cast out and reel in slow and let the waves to the work for me.when night fishing for crappies I use the same technique but I use silver mirror bobber and flash light when i see the bobber flicker i set the hook and reel them in. good luck
