There is such a big discrepancy of prize money from first to second place finishers. $800. I think 2nd should bring 500 bucks and third 250. I believe more people will fish the tourneys if the stakes are higher. I speak for myself at this time. there is plenty of fishermen (and fisherwomen) that compete in Bounty Fishing tournaments during each week and it wouldnt break the bank of Bounty Fishing to up the bounty.

How about the top five? $500 for 1st, $250 for 2nd, $150 for 3rd, 100 for 4th and $50 for 5th?

I always like winning big but... more places like 4th and 5th gets more names and recognition.
as for prize money thats sounds great to split the money up that way ...will still fish in no matter what format!!!

The five places and payouts as introduced by Richard is exactly what should happen to get more folks involved. Hate the thought of giving up a chance for $1,000 but more people equals more life for Bounty Fishing. There could always be other incentives, like the master angler program, bounty records, etc.......
I personally would like to see a one time tournament for LM bass caught in NC by an angler with a size 38 waist or up and sporting a rapidly graying goatee. I'm just saying......................
I am about to bust at the seams for the opportuniy to measure some bass with that big ugly yellow yardstick on my boat.
BF doesn't have to change much, but redfish from mid October to mid November would work better for a lot of the East coast North of FL and wouldn't hurt them at all.

I've also been doing some thinking...... Ya records are Great and all but they are made to be broken and eventually get to a point that get almost unbeatable..... for the bounty records can you not have a section for top 10 fish of alltime for that species, just to see how close it actually is! Just an idea..... I love the top 5 money winners idea, how many times 4th, 5th! And it will help more then just 3 people!

it would at least be nice to see who got the 4th and 5th place even if they don't get extra cash... I'm often curious what size fish came in after 3rd place.

I am happy to see a little change toward the salt , but 500 is just not as tempting as 1000 to put in all the hrs it takes to beat the good fisherman i have had to beat up to this point and the feild is just getting tuffer!!! the reds should have been sept,oct,nov, the realy big fish are in limited areas this time of year! it's all still new and still enjoying the ride!!!! my newyears resolution is to blow up the board come jan!!! good luck to all and happy holidays!!!

Just curious... Largemouth for example - 25 tourneys a year with $1,000 for first or 50 tourneys a year with $500 for first.

I would be all for only 25. There are 3 and a half months that the season is closed for largemouth here in Minnesota. Not to mention the 3 to 4 months of ice before the season closes. Makes it hard to compete if the fish are inactive or out of season.

50 for sure.........and to be honest with you, I wouldn't mind paying a higher entry fee for higher purses. Set it up where you have the option to pay twice the entry fee. If you are a winner of any of the places, you get a higher payout.......
Or........up the entry fees anyway..........that way 1st can be $1,000 and it can go down from there to still pay out 5 places. $19 bucks to win $1,000 will not be found anywhere else...that's for sure, you have been more than generous.
My dinner was about 3 pounds more than I needed and since I cannot physically get up off the couch for at least another 22 minutes....thought I would ramble on a bit.

How about regional tournaments? Say for example one week have catfish, largemouth bass and smallmouth bass for the north and have largemouth bass, catfish and redfish for the south. I think more people would sign up knowing they aren't going against bass in the south or going up against the big cats, walleye, pike and muskie up north in Canada. That would keep anglers from all over North America interested in the tournament every week. I don't really stand a chance at first place in any of the categories living in the middle of Illinois so I would be more tempted to sign up for a week if I was going for largemouth bass against just the north division or a central division, and I'm sure more southern anglers would participate if they didn't have to compete against the larger fish in the more remote lakes in the northern states and Canada. I personally have not signed up for some weeks knowing Largemouth bass over 24 inches are being caught down south when our largest bass rarely are over 18-20 inches or I see channel cats being caught over 35 inches and our average big ones are about 25-28 and I haven't seen a redfish in years around here :) If you look at the leader boards I think you will see that the north and south have dominated the tournaments. I know there are a couple of Illinois leaders on there, but they caught their fish up north with our good buddy Troller8 :) Us central states need loving too :) I know u hear me MA!!!! You would love to be going against just us central boys in a walleye or kitty tournament :) If it takes a $25 weekly fee or $10 fee I'm sure everyone would still participate. Sorry to ramble on too, but I also ate too much (whole deep dish pizza) and I m confined to my chair for the next 3 hours also.

I'm back!! Also I like the top five money winners with top prize being $500. Every one likes to win know matter how much it is and especially if its for fishing. Every one here would probably be fishing anyway, so why not have more winners. I'm done here, so I will go litter some other threads with my bull@#%! :)

Hey Fishinma ...... speaking for you and my wife (fisher22) and the many other female anglers on bounty ...how about 4 spot for males 1st to 4th and a female division with just a first place.. just a thought. I think most guys would like to see the competion from the other sex?

The redish tourney should be a little earlier such as the others are saying just works better for everyone and more fish to be caught.
Money wise it doesn't matter to me I'll fish it no matter hwat even if it's just a free tourney I don't care. While bounty is focusing on 1 fish species for big money they shoudl have liek mini free tourneys going on where like 15 peopel in each diff free species one. And winners of 1,2,3 in those free mini ones should get liek a $10.00 card or somethign that way everyone has soemthign to fish for no matter when.
Also i woul love to see full standings that is my biggest want. Instea dof only showing 1,2,3 there shoudl be a thign at the bottem that says show full results click here and boom the list comes up of all the fish peopel entered and placed with.
4th and 5th place shoudl get something. Even if it's a free thign of hooks or a rapala lure or something.
2nd and 3rd would be pretty neat to just have a slight increase in payout. The 1000.00 for first is awesoem awesoem awesome. 2nd would be awesoem at like 400.00 and third 200.00.
Maybe this will all change if bounty gets more members.
Theres some of my 2 cents enjoy. It's so nice to see a thread atually get posted on and talked about.
Also the guy who said he won't fish for less than a G your a greedy idiot this is for fun and coolness and good times so stick it with taht attitude.

lol we should be able to take bets on who we will think wins anythign in the tounreys. Its an outragiosu idea and wouldn't work but still woudl be fun to bet on other people who fish.
Only thing I want to see is a full eaderboard of where everyone placed not just 1st second and third.

Keep the winner (1st place) at $1,000. After that, do whatever to acheive the desired result, which I assume is more participation, which in turn results in more tournaments and prize money.
Gotta keep the thousand for first though.

Curious richard... why split the the prize money on Large mouth if you double the tournaments... bounty will still see large numbers of contestants each time so why should the prize be cut in 1/2 in order to see twice as many?

I like the idea of showing up to fifth place.. I guess I'd like to see 1st place stay at a grand, but then I really don't care how you want to pay out. Like Mikey said its more about the bragging rights... I think that maybe you should just show where 4th and 5th were at for size and maybe just hook the guys/gals that land in 4 or 5 with some Bounty fishing gear and a free pass to whatever tourny they want to compete in... Or how you have it is fine too...

Seems to me ther is way less cash to give out this year. The site is growing in number, but the sponsorship/advertising $$$ must be drying up. The inaugural summer, there were four specieis to compete for every week. Now it is one? whats up with that? Some are salt water and give the masses a week off - makes no sense to me. Offer less $$$, and bring back multi species every week - gives everyone something to go fishing for.

Hey Richard as the guy a few posts above says can you show the TOP 10 each week (PICTURES), FOLKS LIKE TO SEE THEMSELVES...Of course only pay the Top 5 but it would be nice to see more places. In most Tourney's they don't just show the Top 5 and that's it...They usually run down to Tenth place.
