Small pond bass fishing
I live in a small town in southeastern Ohio and i'm obsessed with fishing. However me and my buddy are having trouble fishing in a group of small strip ponds we found. Each of these ponds has many 5lb bass+, we have tried all kinds of lures from soft plastics, live bait, rapalas...everything. Any advice on how to catch some of these big bass.

My first try would be live bait such as minnows or worms under bobbers, second would be wacky rigged senkos, third woud be topwaters fished at dawn or dusk.

I've seen huge smallies that are very spooked when they are in small clear ponds and canals, it really helps to "stealth" fish them near ambush points.

You might try a Wacky Senko with a weedless setup and stick a piece of finishing nail into the blunt end of it. I like the Bubble gum look. You can see a video of this setup on Youtube. Just search Wacky worm or Kayakjak. It should come up. We have caught several hawgs this year with this setup. Those fish are there. You just might have to keep trying different presentations until you find the one that works. Good Luck!

As others have said try dawn and dusk well into darkness. Try buzz baits paralleling the banks.
If that doesn't work, go gangster and try at 1 or 2 in the morning. Sometimes these ponds are pressured more then we think. A late night excursion just might produce those big dogs.

Good luck, Peace

i had the same problem up by akron. i found that a large 1/2 ounce or even a 3/4 ounce strike king spinnerbait in firetiger with tandem blades works amazingly well. also try a booyah bi-you buzz bait in chart. white. burn the spinnerbait close to the surface so it makes a small wake. these have produced many large bass for me in small ponds. make sure to tell me how it goes
