Rate your fishing expertise
Posted Fri Apr 17, 2009 12:09 pm Rate your fishing expertise
How would you rate your fishing expertise on the following scale:
1) Beginner - These are people that just showed up at the local shop and picked up the simplest combo to try a new hobby.
2) Intermediate - These guys read more about fishing than actually fishing, and are typically the first to try anything the latest issue of their favorite magazine suggests.
3) Advanced - More likely to successfully fish on a regular basis, catch beauties frequently, generally know what it takes to be successful.
4) Pro - These are the guys that rise above the rest, consistently catch big fish while others sit by scratching their heads in amazement.
Without trying to brag, I consider myself a #3. What are you?

We have all been a 1 and a 2 at some point and those of us that consider ourselves a 3 or a 4 are the ones that will help the 1 and the 2 guys get to a 3 or a 4. The guy that is a true 4 will be the guy that goes over to the 1 or 2 guy scratching his head while you are consistantly catching big fish and help him become a better angler. I think there are more 4's on here than one would think.

i would consider myself a 5(xtreme angler) because I am born on feb 19th which is a picsies/aquarius(fish) for real though a confident angler, rarely get skunked, usually get the fish I am after but most of all fishing it pays alot of my bills through guide services ..the lakes have just rid itself on ice and next week fishing again if I can hold off till then..I may have to go for a fish or two this weekend once I get the boat primed...for real though a little 3 and more 4...
fish on...

I would initially say a 3, but guys like fishing4tails, Aaron Weibe, troller8, make me look more like a 2 at best...
Also depends on the species.

When you fish as much as myself, i would say im a 4. Its the only thing that i can say im good at, and that much time doing it, there is no way you shouldnt be a 4.
I also think a 4 or pro would be consistent at catching all species of fish, not just one species like a bass angler, i call myself a "CLASS" fisherman not a "BASS" fisherman and there are alot of CLASS fishermen on bounty from what i have seen.
Posted Wed Jul 22, 2009 3:59 pm Re: Rate your fishing expertise
I'm a 1 when i lose and a 4 when i win and a 3 when im just having fun!!!!

I'm a 3, working on becoming a 4! I agree that a great angler would be one who consistantly catches quality fish of several different species. My lifes quest would be to learn everythig about fishing, I'm sure I'll die falling way short of that goal!

Posted Mon Aug 17, 2009 5:48 am Re: Rate your fishing expertise
I would definitely have to say that I am a 3 with alot of room for improvement.....on the other hand my dad would fall into the 2 range. I think he has gone fishing 10 times this year versus me going every thursday, friday and saturday from february to now.
