When celebrity anglers found out that the fundraiser for C.A.S.T. for Kids (C.A.S.T.) was cancelled, they joined together to ensure that more than 30 disadvantaged children from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lee County would not miss a fishing opportunity of a lifetime! By cancelling this event at short notice, it put many a sponsor up a creek with out a paddle, so to speak and placed a burden on the events set up for the children. We lost the boat to take the children out fishing and the ability to feed the kids and volunteers. Since, The Pink Shell will donated a breakfast snack and The Island Anglers volunteers Mike & Karen stated they could provide sandwiches for the 30 children at lunchtime with Pro Angler Captains and a Major League Baseball star: Leiza Fitzgerald, Bo Johnson and Al Keller stepping forward to volunteer their time and boats in this fishing event. We are still in need of more boats or one large enough to take these kids out fishing and a means to feed the volunteers, who number around one hundred now. This C.A.S.T. for Kids event, scheduled for June 23, 2007, at the Pink Shell Resort and Spa on Fort Myers Beach, Florida, starts with registration at 7 Am and ends with awards around noon.
