I got a hundred questions on the new North - South Bass contest. If they will be explained later, just disregard this post. Where will the N/S border line be? What kind of land marks are acceptable? Can you still purchase at the weekly price; but just use the daily code? Why is the sky blue?

I'm confused. where do i find the rules for this? I have a real shot at the bluegills. are all sunfish classified as "bluegills" or bream? Or do you break the bream down into subcatagories. Are the "red breast bream" or redbreasted sunnies considered a bluegill? I have book that breaks them down into a dozen or more kinds of sunfish.

As I understand it the categories are tied to specific species - so it would have to be a Bluegill and not a redbreast or hybrid.

well, i am sure i cant tell the diff. i would bet that all the fish in my honey are redbreasts or at least hybrids. still have the blue gill on them, we always lumped them altogether and called them bream. if that is the case then i guess i am just a spectator around here. too bad. i had high hopes of at least competing once or twice. oh well. still fun to watch ya'll catch the biggun's.

I think the juggernaught that is American Bass Fishing is starting to heavily infuence this site. How else can you explain scraping all the other species for 5 bass tourneys. I like bass fishing but what made this site awesome was the variety of fish you could target each week for prize money.

Dont mean to be too negative but you leave a bunch of popular species off like pike, musky and only one week for walleyes in exchange for repeating other species likes red's. One week for me all summer. I dont care. im out

What do you mean your out?

Did you read about the bounty records CHALLENGE going on from May 26, 2008 to August 31, 2008?
Probably not.
http://www.bountyfishing.com/enterprise/bountyrecords
If you can beat any of those records during that time period, you could win some SERIOUS cash.
Some records are easier to beat that others.

Hope I informed you before you quit

Re: NEW Spring/Summer Tourney Schedule
Ya the records are breakable but at the same time the last time they had the bounty challenge you were looking at 300 bucks or so . To chase a record which most likely will take more then a day or two to get really isnt worth a guys time. The 1000 bucks for first place is. If i happen to get last so be it but at least i had a chance for 1000. If the website thinks the money is with bass and red's so be it. But it takes time to grow a sight like this and when you take away pike, musky, trout and for the most part walleye the second year in, it takes away 90 percent of the fisherman in the north. Oh well, what ya going to do i guess. I wish i was around last summer.

Re: NEW Spring/Summer Tourney Schedule
Disappointed in the summer sched... doesnt matter guess i'll still be fishing for the fun of it.... Same 20$ on the Large mouth bass tournament yet only get 1/2 the prize, The north has just as many fish in the tournaments as the south, If your going to do that you should have split the Panfish, as if you look at the records they have a more prodominat streak over the south and as i've heard on the site its one of your largest tournament, I could say the same for the Carp that can be caught around here. Fish thrive in there natural conditions, because of that reason alone you should either split All of the tournaments in which the fish arefound globally or none at all

The best suggestion I could give to Bounty is make Bi-weekly fishing tournments for your top 3 tournaments and then on the same weeks go to your lower yeilding tournaments as well, Because if I would personally purchase them multiply times

Re: NEW Spring/Summer Tourney Schedule
I don't think the schedule is to bad. I wish there would be more time for saltwater species but I'm sure all of you wish your species was up there for more than 1 week also.

I love bounty and will be here for a long time I'm just grateful richard threw me a message and I caught it in the e-mail that another reds tourney was happening this week otherwise I would have never got into it.

Let bounty do its thing the more fisherman and entries we get the bigger it will expand and soone ror later they'll be having double week species and such.

I really think we should do a redfish and seatrout the same exact week this way more chances to win for all on the sdaltwater because if the reds arent biting you can scoot out to the flats and catch some trout.

Or maybe do a salt species and fresh species the same week.

Im sure one day this will all happen. But whooray for bounty gotta love this site.

If that bluegill record is still there in a few weeks, I'll negotiate with the people who own the pond I know has at least 100 fish that will CLOBBER that record. We're talking 13"+ bluegill here :)

But they're extremely testy about letting people fish :(

I know a few ponds like that too....but unfortunately the rules say:

"Absolutely no fish caught in fish hatchery waters, fish culture stations, "Fish & Pay" Lakes, private ponds or fishing preserves may be submitted. Furthermore, no fish captured using unconventional methods is eligible. "

In that case though, none of the huge largemouth lakes should be considered fair game :-P you're only allowed to fish in crummy little river systems like I have to! lol.

Re: NEW Spring/Summer Tourney Schedule
ok, so my pond isn't really private. but not really public either. there is nothing keeping people out and plenty of people know about it. a few locals in the know do fish it but not many. I am pretty sure I have a crack at the blue gill record but not sure. I know few other places a little more public but not as fish rich. this is more of a nice picnic spot. how does state stocked water play into this. will the record challenge be determined after aug 31 and all fish caught by the angler in that time frame can apply. will standings show that a record has been challenged changed before aug 31 or will it be a suprise and you wont know if you even have a competor until then?

thats all the questions i can think of for now. I'll work on a few more for later. LOL.

sky is pretty pink early in the morning and late in the eves. ;)

They will check each submitted fish at the end of the week, they will use Weekly codes so you will be fine, Sadly as i stated before they have no true way to check were you caught your fish, counting on honesty. when somone does catch a Record, after that sunday they will reset the challenge record and you will receive that money.... I had a 11.00 bluegill last time, 1/100 off the record they said....

Re: NEW Spring/Summer Tourney Schedule
so what do you think. this pond is open all summer. closed in the winter. not uncommon. any one that is respectfull is welcome to fish in it and all the rennies do. several locals. etc. it isn't known to the masses but that is why is so special. everyone goes for the bass exclusively. there are few smallies in there too. fun. but i think that these huge sunfish are just cool. they are huge with faces all bumpy and big heavy brows. they just look old and tough. like a big ole buck. most of the big ones have turtle scars and parasite marks. I even caught one that looked like a shark had grabbed it and it got away, a big cresent scar from dorsal to anal on both sides. it took both hands to hold him. he was the size of a small crappie at the least. I put him back and i know there are many like this. like a said everyone considers them a waste of time. they kinda laugh at me with my fly rod. thats cool, i'll catch 100 fish to their 1.

I will probably wait till get back to fla in the spring when i am in famillar water and can go for sea trout and reds. I really feel i have a better chance there and like my skills are better there too. I really don't think i can compete with ya'll. I've looked at the pics. I'd be a little more inclined if I thought I had half a snowballs chance to be honest. but I don't need to compete to hang out here.

i am a little disappointed also, as the only specie i can even compete in is only on here for 1 week..Too Much BASS..i mean look at the entries for the species, and there is how many bass weeks? I can't even fish largemouth that would even compete north or south, just not common around here. Walleye, well we all see the same winners there too, so from what i see, something needs to change, as i think people are starting to see the same winners over and over, and are getting discouraged knowing that they cant even come close to the top 5...I would like to see some new ideas thrown out..guess i don't need to hurry up and replace that camera i had stolen that i used on BF, cuz i can't compete for a long time....

How about a bigger bass tourny

Entry $100

1st $1000
2nd $750
3rd $500
4th $400
5th $300

or we should have a tournament like I suggested in the thread "New Contest Idea" It would easily get more participation than the last LM South tournament, no matter what the species

Lots of bass tourny's! Looks like we'll all get a little better at our bass game. Since I started bounty I broadened my fishing to many species I wouldn't have otherwise targeted. Its been fun and a real challenge. The way I look at it , its going to be hardcore bass seminar and may the best bass hunter win! I'm in. I'm sure we'll have other species in tournies to come and I look forward to that as well. Game on!!!

thats funny i didnt even look at the date... What a dumb--- But it does show one thing there was too much bass two years ago also. I know bass bring in the most money but if they added another species along with THE ALL MIGHTY BASS it would bring in more money. Heck i would even pay more to get in the tourney and im sure alot of others would also...

I thought you did that one on a clever purpose... Bass are fun BUT other species are too! There isn't the volume interest to support other species tourneys like LM...even SM are not as popular. Trout are popular and I think Bounty should take a stronger look with them.
