New and need some help
My name is James andl I live in Carson,CA and I recently started to go fishing and I go alot now. And I need some help on lines and how to put them on. Well I current fish for mackerel fish and I catch about 3 at lest and 6 at most. And one of my friends said that my line is to thin so I put a 50pound line but when I put it on it gets of the reel and gets tangled up. What are your guys recommendation. And the nearest store for supplies would be big find or the store on the pier. So what line would you guys recommend and any tips on how to put it on? Also if I were to get a new pole and reel what would you guys recomend

Welcome to Bounty!Heres a link that might help.. http://www.wikihow.com/Spool-New-Fishing-Line-Onto-a-Reel Wal-Mart has a decent selection for most, depends how much you want to spend.Ugly stiks are good rods for the price and nearly idestructable. If your fishing off of a pier I would suggest: a 7 ft rod,med-hvy action. What kind of Macks are you hooking?Hope this helps..

Re: New and need some help
Welcome aboard James! I know exactly what your talking about. When you use heavy mono it tends to unraffle on the reel. Try using braided line and you will not have this problem. To put it on use an Arbor Knot.

1. Thread the line around reel.

2. Tie an overhand knot around the line itself. Then just tie a second overhand knot in the tag end. This second knot keeps line from slipping through the first.

3. Grab on either side of the knots and pull tight. Cut off the excess. Then slide the first overhand knot down the line to snug it around the reel arbor.

Goto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDYquiQKa1A and watch the video. You may have problems with slipping when using braided line. To avoid this put a piece of medical tape on the spool first.

If your to busy to fish, then your to dam busy!

And it sounds like you are putting too much line on.You should see at least a 1/8 inch of spool on the top sides when it is full.
