I use string knots they don't break like the plastic one if you try to move them when the line is dry.First put knot on string then a swivel then a small split shot to hold swivel in place. Then tie favorite hook or ice jig on line then add remainder of splitshot to adjust for bobber. Heaviest at the bottom so at casting your line will not tangle. Heaviest weight will travel first.

slip bobbers are used with bobber stops. run your bobber stop up the line to wear you want the depth of the bait to be.

slip on a plastic bead that comes with the bobber stop kit. then slip on the bobber. put a sinker about 6-8 inches from end of line and tie on the hook

beemoths or crickets work well on blue gills with this rig. you can find the bobber stops at any bait and tackle shop with instructions on the package.

I have seen them with a small piece of plastic also. The plastic has a hole on each end and you run your line through one hole, wrap it around the plastic once or twice and then through the second hole. Then the bead then the bobber then the hook. the bead slides freely and the depth adjustment is with the piece of plastic. These bobbers are great. I have some where the stem of the bobber is slotted and can be turned so the bobber can be removed for deep fishing with the same rod and reel.
