Ice fishing tournaments
I was wondering what there's gonna be for tournaments this winter. It doesn't look like the schedule goes that far so I was thinking we could start with an early ice perch tournament then follow up with a couple of crappie tournaments and maybe a largemouth north tournament in January. What does everyone think about that?

Re: Ice fishing tournaments
I think that would be a good idea for this winter. Up by my house there are alot of large bass and perch but I think a good tournament would be steelhead and trout for this winter.

I could probably go for trout I've never caught any but could probably go to the boundary waters and find some lake trout

ICE??? Are you guys nuts or just flat crazy!!! I saw a documentary once on ice fishin...they froze their tush! Everything froze even the gal they brought... with hot pink ear muffs, boots, mits.. and a pole combo to match. They fired up the heat then .....then.... POOF! Everything cracked and the ice princess too! Not a pretty sight!
I'm game!

Re: Ice fishing tournaments
You guys will just have to wait for the ice tournies.. they will have most species Crappie, perch, walleye and maybe a pike are the usuall winter ones but just wait and see lots of time b4 the ice is in.as for trout tournies probably will never happen as trout are not good out of the water and time to do the pics would do a lot of harm to the fish...right now the walleye are in full frenzy, almost all species are feeding up and schooling up so find them and you will think.. why would I ever want this time of yr to end..this is the time of many fish(50 to 100 fish days are common) and a few quality fish too..Gl and go sit in the freezer and see how you feel about winter coming..Go fish and good luck to all...
p.s if you want to know what the ice brings for bounties just go look at the past official results and take note to the dates(I think start a week 48 and work your way up) and you will get a jist of whats to come....

My gang in Central would be up for LMB too no closure on them here. Our ice is thick enough Jan-Mar usually for Crappie, Perch, Rainbow, Cutthroat, LMB, Tiger Musky.
