I just got back from FLA…did not have a chance to wet a line. Here’s what I missed out on, since I regularly hook up with Jorge this time of year.
Fishing Report from your Friends at LowPlaces
March 14, 2009
Fishing Flamingo with father and son Robert Laffland, Jr & Sr from New York, looking for any thing that would pull a line. Found a number of reds in a large school but all we could pull out was a Jack. So we moved on and found some permit that would not eat but we managed to hook a number of lemon sharks and landed two lemons and a bonnet. So at this point Robert Jr. had a Jack, lemon and a bonnet shark. Robert lost a large lemon and landed one, - both lemons were 4 ft. We looked on and found a school of bonefish, - Robert. Jr. landed a nice 7.75-pound bonefish his first one, on his first cast. We moved once again looking for tarpon and we found them, hooked 7, jumped 5 and landed 2 -10 and 15 pounds. And to top it all of Robert Jr. landed a 28-pound permit only the second grand slam I have ever had in the time I have been guiding. So to sum it up Robert Laffland landed a Jack, Bonnet shark, lemon shark 4”, a 7.75 # bonefish, a 15# tarpon and a 28# permit. Just one of those days you wish you could have more of and for most that is called a slam of the best kind!!!!
