Flounder Division
I think we should add a third saltwater species to the tournaments........
Flounder would definately be a top contender!

Re: Flounder Division
I dont think the flounder in FLA can compete with some of the other states,i dont think there would be many people to compete, you can catch them the same areas you get trout and redfish there just not that large,''Dam good eatin though!!!!.

Re: Flounder Division
We definitely have some big flounder here in NC. Think it would be a good idea to add them to the list of salt water.

Give a man a fly and he will fish for a day, teach a man to tie flies and he will pick up dead squirils off the road

If this thread can generate some decent support, Flounder will be considered.

Re: Flounder Division
I'd try for it, but I'm not sure I could catch one big enough. Gigging is much easier than catching in the panhandle, but I don't target flounder that much, so I'm probably not the best person to ask advice from. I'd be interested though.

Re: Flounder Division
I caught a 23 inch flounder this weekend, I would be interested in adding the flounder to the saltwater category. The only problem with flounder is "Im not sure how to target them. It seems like when I catch a flounder I am happily suprised. Does anyone know how target them? Oh and by the way they are my new favorite fish after this weekend to eat. (beats a snook any day)

Also I was wondering if we could get enough people to start a Snook division.??

Fish ON!!!

Re: Flounder Division
You got that right! That meat is decandent! Here on the texas coast,we use mud minnows(killifish)finger mullet, shrimp on fish-finder rigs(carolina rig);Small jigs(Touts)work well too.I like the d.o.a terror-eyez,Shrimp,shassy shad, etc.Throw out,let it fall to the bottom, and crawl your bait, mix it up with short pauses and hops; They love a moving tide;try to find underwater ditches,drop-offs from 2 to 8 ft;Tidal marsh, mangrove ditches can be a good start.*while helping my dad land a redfish yeatrs ago I was throwing a Glow doa shrimp and while I helped my dad,I set my rod down for about to minuets;picked it up,thought I was hung;22 inch Flounder..Pays to go sssllooowww.*Dont forget to tip you jig with cut shrimp,shad,mullet.etc..

well as usual if Florida has it I will sign up for it ! Caught one last weekend and lost a big one .I have never fished for them but have caught a few accidently .But I would try a one day pass since it is still an hour from my house to get to the salt waters.I am in if it happens though.bassindow
