Fishin for river cats
I was wondering is you would use the drag on or off in a river because if the drag is on, you cant tell when you have a fish. But when it is off, the current tends to break the line. Help me please?????!!!!!!!

I use a baitrunner reel. It has 2 drag systems. You set the bait runner on light to medium tension depending on the current, just enough so it doesn't pull your line out.

When the fish takes your bait and runs, the reel will allow it to take line. Reel 1/4 turn to turn off the baitrunner / put your reel back into "standard" mode, where the drag is set tighter. Then set the hook and fight the fish.
