Just looked at fishfry's pictures and this one caught my eye. http://www.bountyfishing.com/picture/40-me-and-my-puppy

It's an over the slot redfish and it says right on the picture he took it home. I'm pissed because as an avid redfisherman he's just pissing away the resources that need to be protected.

You got it right ..if protection is implamented it is because that fish species is in trouble..and all those big ones are real important to the system creating the future...some are just blind or ignorant.but like me I have learnt not to let it bother me too much, speak your words try to get them to understand..is all we can do..but Karma is the real justice and his dues will be soon in life whether he gets a big fat ticket, court, boat sinks or just cant catch fish in the future because there wont be any..Karma will play her coarse and hope this gives you some peace in the matter...so I know exactly how you feel..just feel better that you know you are the better fishermen, sportsmen, and just plain smarter..best of luck..always release the breaders even if they aren't protected..this will ensure a lifetime of great fishing opposed the the occasional good day...C'N'R works and a pic in the boat with trees, water, sky are far more appealing to the eyes then a backyard shot...sad it is..but we all see it too much and it effects us who really care far more then we wished it would..

fish on...

It is annoying when people break conservation laws. Luckily, here in NM, they have a program for reporting poachers or anyone just breaking the law, a sort of 911 for wildlife if you will. It would be nice to see these types of things be punished.

I fully agree with you on protecting the resources and following laws, I was just wondering. On Fishfry's statement next to his avatar it says he is moving to louisianna soon and he also turned in a redfish in the week 76 tournament from louisianna, so how do you know that the fish in the picture is not from louisianna, (where it would be a legal harvest according to the Louisianna Fisheries Website). Not trying to stir up any trouble, just wouldent want to see anyone get a bad name unless they truly deserve it.

Read up on state laws before you accuse me of anything was also a male due to the fact he was croaking...

I just started red fishing Im more of a bass fisherman im just good at what I do... Normally I dont keep any oversized fish like this we caught 3 that night, this was the smaller of my two. but it was a legal fish caught from the beach I dont have any boat that could make it in the ocean I have a puddle jumping 30 year old aluminum boat that has more holes in it then swiss cheese

Drum, Red (redfish) 16” min TL 5/person bag* with only ONE OVER 27 inches-take/possession in

Laws or no laws we need to fish responsably, here we have the issue of guys keeping their one Northern over the 35 inch upper end of the slot. They seem to think because the law says they can keep one over , they keep it. Gotta release the big ones, we dont need to kill a fish for a mount anymore and most everyone has a digital camera, the only reason I can see for keeping these trophies is ego.
