Best Knot To Tie
You can buy the best rod, reel and bait but the one thing you cannot buy might just be the difference in placing on the tournament board or going home with regret.

I tie several different knots for different situations. Although, the one knot that never seems to fail is the Miller Knot. It is a little time consuming but makes up for it with performance.

1. Run the tag end through the hook eye twice to form a dime-size loop.

2. Wrap the tag end around the main line twice, then back through the double loop, leaving enough line to form another loop.

3. Insert your right index finger into the back of the loop and roll it over toward you. With the thumb and forefinger of your right hand, pull the tag end through the loop, creating a figure-8.

4. Wet the loose knot, then tighten by pulling both the tag end and main line at the same time.

Re: Best Knot To Tie
Yeah, the Palomar knot is one of my favorites. The Palomar Knot is easy to tie correctly and consistently. It's great virtue is that it can safely be tied at night with a minimum of practice. This is also the best knot to use with braided fishing line.

1. Double about 6" of line and pass the loop through the eye of fishing hook.

2. Let the fishing hook hang loose, and tie an overhand knot in the doubled line. Avoid twisting the lines and do NOT tighten the knot.

3. Pull the loop end of the line far enough to pass it over the hook, swivel, or lure. Make sure the loop passes completely over the attachment.

4. Pull both the tag end and the standing line until the knot is tightened. Clip off the tag end of the fishing line.

Palomar is my choice too, works amazingly well with most superbraids. Exception is very heavy line, I switch to my own modified version of a uni knot.

Re: Best Knot To Tie
I think the best knot is the one that your confident with,I say everyone has there own special preference for whatever the reason if it works then why change it like everyone has their special confidence bait or lure..but sometimes different applications require different ways..like that miller knot looks great for big game panfish/trout and walleye may look at that and reject especially if slow jigging or still fishing..like this week going for big fish my swivel would get hit over and over by perch and really young bass ...but I love the knot shown in the rapala packages works good, simple and can hold a horse...gl and fish on...

fish on...

Re: Best Knot To Tie
Right on Igor! The Rapala knot is a great knot when using crankbaits. It allows the bait to move freely and unimpeded by the knot.

1. Tie an overhand knot 6 inches above the tag end of your line. Thread the tag end through the lure eyelet, and then through the overhand knot.

2. Make three wraps around the standing line.

3. Pass the tag end through the back of the overhand knot.

4. Run the tag end through the new loop you formed in step 3.

5. Lubricate and tighten by pulling on the tag end, main line, and lure.

Yes I agree the palomar knot has been my favorite I just learned it so I really use only one knot. Although I think light lines tend to breaks off .

Re: Best Knot To Tie
I use a Palomar most of the time, but there are situations where different knots are required as well. I have several animated videos as well as on the water instruction in knot tying at my site. Tight lines, Steve

Re: Best Knot To Tie
For those who tie the palamor knot , although this is a great knot with great strength it does have its weakness, espcially when tying with florucarbon line try the following knot called the eugene bend knot, orginally designed for fly fisherman to tie tippet to main line, make a great knot for flourcarbon due to the fact that you cinch up on the knot rather that cinching down
see following link for description and how to do, hop this helps someone catch more fish
