Weather here in upstate NY has been terrible this year, July has been like May. Finally on Mon. night we had a perfect weather for fishin, so me and the my wife, headed out around 6:30. Went up into the `old river` and started casting top water, after the 3rd cast the fun began. Smallies are hangin out in the fast current around 1.6 of water, had trim up the engine and rise the trolling motor, and have the trolling motor around 5 foot constantly on the pedal. If I was in a tournment I would have the 5 fish limit within a half hour of fishing,which never happens to me tournment time, but the wife was pretty impressed. It was my wife`s first time of watching a smallmouth feed on topwater bait, she even thought it was pretty cool. Had a great time for about two hours until a couple of fishermen floated down over the area i was fishng,it was nice, and momma got a few nice pic too boot.
