Let's just say I'm a guy that loves fishing. If I'm not fishing then I'm watching it on TV or playing my fishing game on my oldest daughters Gamecube or reading a fishing book or Mag.

I started my first week of competition in a Bounty tournament and I was very excited to finally be able to enter in one of the tournaments. When I set out yesterday I had about 5 mapquest maps and full tank of gas and everything an angler could need to catch Smallmouth,Walleyes or Panfish. Being from the inner city (Philly Pa) the Delaware River is only 5 minutes from my house but it is the very dirty shpping part of the river that holds no Smallmouth or Walleye. So I drove for a good 1 and a half to my first spot and I must say I really did my homework .Because of the lack of rain we have been having and with it still being 90 degrees in the middle of October the water levels are extremely low.I hit about 5 different spots throughout the day all very good Smallmouth and Panfish spots, and good spots for Walleye at night or when it gets colder.i caught alot of bluegill all very small and 2 catfish up to 20 inches and two smallmouth which were 11 inches and under and I didn't think it was even worth walking all the way back to the shore (I was wading) to take a picture to submitt, this was one of 2 all day and that was my main target. If it was a month earlier I probably would have done better because the Smallmouth action was great but has been dropping off.I had one more spot in mind before I was going to call it quits for the day and this is the spot where I caught my biggest Smallmouth ever 19 inches in 2006 when I arrived there I was fishing from shore in the slack water and BAM I was catching Largemouth after Largemouth but although I love catching Largemouth and I think most of us do they were not what I wanted to catch. I fished that spot for awhile only because I was catching some bluegill and hoping to get a big one. After about a hour I decided to put the waders back on one more time and try fishing the middle in the current because I know Largemouth don't like the current and smallmouth do. By this time I was extremely tired and felt like I was walking with 100 pound weights on my legs. So I reached the middle in the current and on the third cast BAM finally another Smallmouth although it was very small and I put right back ,it gave me some hope. But that quickly ended when I started catching Largemouth after Largemouth in the current. So I called this story Unwanted Largemouth because I really love catching them and never thought that I would be mad that I caught alot of them and some nice sized ones.Well after today the temp is supposed to drop to the 70's and we are supposed to get a couple days of needed rain and although it kind of ruins my first week in the tournament,it will helpout in the long run.So this weekend after the rain I will give it another shot and this time I think I will take the world's greatest fishing partner and my good luck charm with me (my 4yr old daughter Emily)so whoever is leading at that point watch because here I come. Good Luck to Everyone Competing and God Bless, Chick S.
