I was fishing with my buddy this past Sunday. It was the last day of the free tournament on here and we both signed up. We were checking out the sizes of the smallies being caught and we knew we could do just as good. After being out from 430 am until about 730-8 with no luck on new lakes, we decided to check out a pond we knew had lunkers in it. It started off slow, slow meaning the big ones weren't biting - just 13-14 inchers. Just then my buddy's drag was going crazy. it was only a 16" but it fought like a 26". His next cast, he got a hit immediately after his shiner hit the water. Same thing, drag spinning, line peeling off. He pulled in a smallie at least 6" bigger than the one he had. I helped get it to shore and as soon as it touched land, it jumped off and back in the water. I jumped after it and grabbed it. It decided to pull when I pulled and slipped right out of my hand.
