On Opening day for bass in Quebec, We went out for some massive amounts of smallies but stumbled apon over 200 rock bass that would attack everything they see.
Just unreal.
All really nice rock bass up to about 1 pound , which for a panfish is pretty impressive.
Bounty should consider these in tourneys, because they are relatively easy to catch, and are found very commonly through out the states and Canada.

If your for the idea. Of introducing rock bass into consideration for tourneys in the future.

I guess people could compete for anything that swims where money is involved, I don't see how most people would otherwise spen a week targeting rock bass. For that matter, I found the perch tournament a bit weird too, as I do when I see people spending all day in fancy boats coming back with buckets of 8-10 inch fish. I personaly associate rock bass, perch, sunfish and similar species with "kid" fishing, they are really easy to catch, very numerous as no one keeps them, and great training for beginners like my younger children. They provide non stop action as far as numbers. For most "sport" fisherman, game fish and big fish are what they would be more likely to fish for and brag about, which is more of the spirit on this board. I've said it before, I think they should change this tournament format to allow people to compete all season for any fish listed for a higher fee. Say for example I like carping, if I could buy a season pass for let's say $50, then have a season long number that I would bring on all trips. I would then submit my biggest fish of the season in January 2009, bounty can annouce the winner in February and send the checks out. Using this format, they would be able to sell passes to everyone at all times, and would only need about 30-40 people in each category to break even as far as prize money goes. I'm sure the signups would increase dramatically, as the current format kills 50%-90% of Bounty members each week due to species availability and regional issues. In my humble opinion, this is bounty's only chance at really earning big bucks directly from tournaments. Anyway, all this is unfortunately useless for us Quebecois with our ridiculous gaming rules. The only way this would work here would be if Loto Quebec were put in charge of the tournament. Maybe Bounty should license their technology to them strictly for Quebec anglers and keep a percentage for "management fees", although I doubt the "generous" folks at Loto Quebec are interested in sharing their "hard earned" profits.
