 Practice with a Pro unites with Black Spot Fishing Team

First ever Louisiana Redfish Practice with a Pro participant was Sergeant Darren P. Heine. Black Spot Fishing Team Professional Brandon Treadaway was looking for a good candidate for a long time. He got notice from a friend that Sgt. Heine was on vacation from his second tour in Iraq. Sgt. Heine is currently deployed to Yusufiyah, Iraq.
On July 10, 2008, Treadaway and Sgt. Heine scouted for the IFA Redfish Tournament being held on August 16, 2008. The location of scouting was Buras and Port Sulphur, Louisiana. The trip was an afternoon delight, from 2:30 until 8:00 p.m. The duo fished a low rising tide. On the way to lower Plaquemine Parish, Sgt. Heine gave some history of his family and his service. He is assigned to 187 INF Regt. of 101st Airborne Division. He has been on active duty for five years. His first deployment to Iraq was from August 2005 to August 2006, where he went to Samarra, Iraq. His current deployment started in September 2007 and is scheduled to end in January 2009. He is married to Stephanie Hilton Heine and they have one daughter, Brooke, age 2. Sgt. Heine has another daughter, Chasity, age 4. Treadaway and the Sgt. made their first stop at the first set of interior marsh islands ten minutes from the launch. Shortly thereafter, Sgt. Heine hooked a beautiful redfish, measuring 23 inches and weighing 4lbs. 11oz., on a gold H&H spoon. After having trolling motor difficulties and a quick repair, they were off scouting shallow water ponds, which turned out to be unproductive on low tide. The next area of scouting was done particularly in dead end canals, which produced a number of strikes. Treadaway caught a perfect slot fish, 27 inches, 7 lbs. 14 oz. on chartreuse redfish magic spinner bait. The final tally was four redfish with the two biggest reaching 12lbs. 9 oz. Sergeant Heine was then looking for a little more action. The two then fished jigs for speckled trout, which yielded fifteen speckled trout, resulting in lots of smiles from Sgt. Heine.
Treadaway brought Sgt. Heine out to Port Sulphur and Buras as a release from what the Sgt. sees on a regular basis during his tour in Iraq. The trip is also a token of gratitude extended from the Black Spot Fishing Team to the Sgt., showing the team’s appreciation for the Sgt’s service to this country.
