well me and my fishing bud, pete(bassindow) finally got to escape o-town and head south to miami. I wanted to introduce him to the peacocks that dominate the waterways in my home town of cutler ridge. we took the labor day weekend and headed out on our adventure. saturday morning we got a boat from my brothers friend and hit the canals. It was a little slow at first as it had been awhile since I went peacock hunting. we caught a couple of small ones here and there but it was slow going. we tried all sorts of different techniques until we finally figured out what they like. and how they like it. which was fast and jerky! After that it was one after another all day long.It was a blast! we even landed a few nice snook under one of the bridges. we even caught a bunch of lady fish even though we were pretty much in fresh water. It was an awesome day. we had planned on going offshore the next day but theweather was not cooperating so we ended up just fishing the canals all weekend. we never caught the monsters that I was hoping for but we made up for that with the quantity. all in all it was a great trip and we are definatley going to start hitting the south more often. Oh yea ,I almost forgot to mention, and Ive heard stories like this alot. Towards the end of the weekend with a camera loaded with pictures to back up your stories of your catches. I just got done releasing another peacock and I was washing my hands when my camera slips out of the case and plummets into the water and just sank like a rock. I freaked out, immediatly thinking Im gonna go home with no proof of any of my stories. but I realized that the memory card should be ok if I can just find the camera on the bottom of this canal. well lucky for me I had a dive mask with me (because we were gonna go lobstering if weather permitted), and being that the water is so clear in those canals I took the plunge and recovered my camera, so check out some of the fish we caught on our miami fishing adventure!
