rainbow (CA)

 Headed out sat Fish for jumbo Perch + Rainbows , Morning Air was crisp with strong SE winds ,But for the end of Sept ,A beautiful day Hiked 2Kms into the lake, the trail was dry + the leaves were in there full fall colors {love this time of the yr ] First five casts a fish on every take ,my bobber went down as soon as it hit the water all five little rainbows[10"] were released to grow up for next yr. The fish grow slow in this lake 5yrs for a 20" trout Changed my tactics + started fishing deeper for the perch or bows Using a four lb test leader with a fireline main line . Its amazing how a lake can change in two yrs My two boys + I caught 5 perch 14-14.5 in three trips in 2005, not on this day !!! The rainbows were ruling this day Line went out slowly thinking it is a little perch to my surprise a 20" bow took a pic + put the male back in the water .later on a 16the a 14" Kept the two smaller fish ,upon cleaning them the 16" was full of craw-fish !!! Decided to try a heddon craw-fish lure . I was not disappointed . Sun started to hit the treetops time to go home , But I was home { this is where it all started for me 49yrs ago as my parents used to hike into this lake when they were newly married !! ] Kind of explains why this lake calls me , + when my time is up . My ashes are returned toThis lake where it all started. BK
