Here's a story about a cry baby and his kitten!
Well about 6 months ago at the start of the season I was back in my spare room working on my reels taking off a 12 ft piece of braided due to frays in my line..... needless to say I put it on my coffee table and I had to head out to Canadian Tire to pick up a few supplies. Was out for about an hour and when returning home, my cat Nala was acting kinda strange, weird head jerks and I've never noticed this behaviour with a Cat! SO I grab her up and the first thing I noticed was a piece of 1" braided line 40# test at that, sticking out of her mouth....... Instantly I thought DAM I JUST KILLED MY OWN CAT! I carefully tried to see if the line would come out but only got a good 6 inches out and she let out a yelp! That's when I got real emotional and relized how much I really did care about my KITTEN which was maybe only 9-11 months old! My fiancee Amanda instantly tried to keep me calm but good luck, I was blatten like a baby and hysterical! SO she called the 24 hour emergency vet line and the vet said it was an instant $125 for callng and if an operation was needed it could be expensive....... Now Im really blatten because I got no money to SAVE MY CAT! SO I started praying and hoping something would save my little Kitty named Nala! So I had to get the carrying box out and try to get Nala calm enough to get her in that box and this is always been a chore....... I trapped her in the main bedroom and she hid under the bed so I tried to quickly grab her and when I did she made a bolt for the door, but while doing so she caught the little piece of braided line on the bed post and I watched a miracle happen for that kitten right in front of my eyes, she hit the hallway and took a quick right with the line coming OUT! Then she vanished out of my site and I heard a good yelp and that was when I was most scared because braided line can cut like a Knife! When I yelled to my fiancee who was out that way, she yelled she just puked it up! WOOOOO RELIEF but still scared there might be damage internally, rushed her to the vet after getting scratched allover due to her being stressed and sick of me trying to get her in!!!!! On arrival to the vet I set the box down and opened the door and Nala walked out like she was actaully the QUEEN OF THE VET ROOM! Showed no signs of being in any pain, Vet checked her quick and said she looks ok, but I dont know how I thought I would be putting a cat down tonight! I cheerish this Kitten so much now, that kitty dont leave my side when Im home it's like she thinks I saved her life while in truth I was the one that made the situation! SO the morale of my story is if you use braided line keep it away from the animals they think it's a toy! I also emailed the company and let them know it CAN HAPPEN and TRUST ME IT'S NOT FUN! Mike :)
