 Bounty Fishing should have a Gar tournament, but instead of the biggest fish the winner should be the greatest number of fish caught and killed in one day. I don't know how they are in other areas of the United States but here in Alabama they are a frickin' menace. There are more gar in the water then any other species of fish, except bluegill. Just a thought, they just get on my nerves every time I go fishing. Let me know what ya'll think.....

Sounds like a plan to me. I think I'm going to get a crossbow and a pitch fork and do some work.

lol i agree, but we should be able to shoot all the fish with bowfishing equipment, instead of just catching them!! me and my buddies are in some carp shoots and we end up takin 10,000 pounds out of lakes no problem!!!

True, carp are a nuisance no matter where I fish. I was in Washington State a month ago and they were everywhere....didn't matter if I was trout, smallmouth, largemouth or perch fishing I saw swarms of carp. And here in Alabama they are just as bad if not worse. I realize they don't really do anything except piss me off....I am just wondering if others feel the same way. Let's take 'em out! Or at least thin them out.

I've never caught a gar where I'm at, so I guess I don't have a problem with em'. I would definately eliminate some carp though.. I know there are some carp defenders on this site, but I can't stand carp.. I don't know how a carp all of a sudden became some kind of "game" fish.

Not many brits here in New Mexico. The state has recently put a limit on how many carp you can kill or take a day. Its down to 250 fish, with no more than 500 in possession.

You guys would be hunted down by the Brits, they came after me for keeping a few carp for some poor people to eat in a place on the St Lawrence River where there are more carp than perch. What they should really have a bounty on is gobies, they are destroying panfish in the areas they've taken over. OK, not the most exciting fish as it doesn't grow over 5-6 inches, but I know a spot where I can catch over 50 an hour. Just waiting for the ministry of natural resources to put a bounty on them, my kids will get rich...

There aren't enough gar here to be a menace. I like gar, now carp, I dislike. They should have the same tournament for carp.
