I was fishing in the middle of the bay at a private resedential lake where my Grandparents live on June 25, 2005. It was about midnight and we were fishing with minnows on a jig. we had caught many mid-sized perch when suddenly i had probably the biggest hit in my fishing carreer. My Grandfather didn't believe i had a fish and thought i was snagged on somthing at the bottom of the lake. He was wrong. He continued to doubt until he saw it jump out of the water. he then insisted to take my pole but i eagerly refused as soon as i lifted the fish into the pontune the line snapped, but luckly we got the fish into a livewell. Because it was dark and our vision was dull we believed the fish was a bass because the bass were hitting hard this summer. My grandfather shoved my thumb into the "bass's" mouth and i yelled at him saying"this bass has freeking sharp teeth!" he replied.."Oh, no it'doesn't...man up." and he shoved my thumb into the fishes mouth onceagain, but this time harder and deeper. We got the fish into a live box we built previously that day. In the morning we noticed the fish had died and it's color was faded. He said he would mountit for me. Apon closer examination on the way to the taxidermy, i noticed it's sharp teeth.(this lake had a larghe Northern Pike issue. The pike were eating the largemouth and greatly depleating the population..if you caught a northern, no matter the size or season, it was illeagle to release it) i had never seen a Northern Pike befor and this would explane the deep and previously bleeding cuts and gashes on my thumb. So we then thought it was a Northern Pike. We droped the "pike" off at the taxidermy and headed home. We then got a call from the taxedermy a week later that the Bass/Pike was now a wallie! the Wallie measured 19 1/2 in and weighed 2.4Lbs. Now the Wallie sits prowedly on my wall in my bedroom with a story to tell...sorry, a long story, if anyone ever finnishes reading the story befor their ADD sets in, hahaha!
thanks, BFrank

the siz e of the wallie is small, but for the lake i was fishing at it was considered to be quite large...there isn't many wallie that can be found there either...seaweed treatment chemicals killed alot of them.
