While bass fishing several years ago. I was tossing a black rubber worm rigged Texas style. After an hour or so I finally felt that sweet tap-tap at the end of my line. I immediately dropped the rod tip and disengaged the spool, giving the victim a chance to get the hook in its mouth and start swimming away. Sure enough after a few seconds I see the line start moving off to my right, I take-up the slack and set the hook. After a short fight I reach down to lip what looks like a good 7-8 pound hawg. Well at least the head of the fish was that big, but it sported the belly of a starving 3 pounder. With a quick glance of the gal I reached to unhook her and saw what the problem was. She had a small crappie lodged sideways in the back of her mouth right in front of her throat. After removing the hook from her lip, I reached for my pliers and was able to remove the semi decayed prey from her mouth and slide her back over the edge of the boat. Around 2 weeks later I believe that hooked her again. She had gained a good 1/2 pound, but she still didn't have the body to match that big bucket mouth. Never had that happen since, but I was wondering if anyone else has had any fish saving adventures like this?

I've had the same thing with a sunfish who ate a balloon knot (like an inflatable rubber balloon) but I had to help him get it out of the... eh.. other side, of the digestive tract.
