Here is the story for my son's(Ethan) walleye...
A few day before our trip my daddy asked our family if they wanted to go on fishing trip with a chance to catch a world record!! Layla, my sister, Noah, my brother, and me, Ethan all jumped up and said "yesssss" . so mom began packing all the warm clothes and food, dad got the boat and fishing gear ready and we left a few days later. The drive was long but once there in the cottage we rented from Merland Park ..we unpacked quick and were off fishing . the boat drive was about 15 minutes we started trolling with my dad letting us help set up and choose the color of lures we should use. After a few hour of trolling my dad said let change the lures again so I began to look through his tackle box and found one I really liked. It was a Luhr Jensen Power Dive in "superman" color and within five minute of wetting that lure the clicker goes off ..I yelled "fish on" I was also the first to jump up and grabbed the rod and began reeling . I reeled and reeled and reeled then my dad said "your half way there" so I reeled and reeled and finally my dad landed this monster walleye . My dad knew right away I had a winner! We weighed the walleye quickly to make sure 11 lbs we had high fives around the boat. The walleye was put into the live well and back to Merland Park for the proper weights and photos. After taking great care of the walleye we release it back to where it belongs and watched it swim away for another time!!

From dad
I'm really proud of him Ethan has won 3 consecutive fishing tournament held for kids on Stoney lake .The kid tournament is measured by length The first two years he won them with a bass. This years he won it with walleye. It almost beat the IGFA walleye record (kids) in late june with a 9 lbs walleye caught while jigging one early morning with me ..he also missed the Common Carp record this September by a few pounds , he's motivated to get that record next year , plus many others of course!! His brother and sister will give him a run for his money (oops) rod. haha
