Last October, my friend Peter and I got out for a day of Chinook Salmon fishing on the Credit River in Mississauga, Ontario. We had gotten reports a few days prior that the Chinook had started making their way into the river to begin their spawning run!!!! We got to the river before sunrise to get set-up and a head start on the other anglers that morning. We started out fishing a spot on the river called "The Ice Breakers", which was basically a large deep pool with broken bridge pilings around it. We had heard a few fishing jumping here and there but couldn't manage to get any to hit our presentations. After about half an hour, the Ice Breakers started to get crowded with other anglers, so Peter and I decided to move up river and find pools of salmon that would not be pressured. It was a good move on our part, because the action was non-stop at each pool that we had hit. Not only were their alot of fish in these untouched pools, but they were also willing to smash our roe bags!!!! That day we landed over 20 Chinook salmon, caught a few beautiful Coho salmon, and Peter also lost a nice sized brown trout. We both got our personal best Salmon that day, mine around 27lbs and Peter's closer to the 30lbs mark. It was an action packed fall day!!!!! Can't wait for this fall to do it all over again!!!
