another story by "FISHINMA" Here’s a little Bounty fishing for Carp adventure straight from my honey hole in Utah. As most of you fishin nuts know, in the dead heat of summer bites are better at night and early in the morning. So being the expert angler I decided to fish all night last night for Bounty Carp. I packed up and went to one of my favorite spots, by myself around 10:30.... bound and determined!! Here’s the setting: Fishing hole lit up by lantern on top of Rodeo so pesky flying things stay away from me. Comfy camp chair totally equipped with a cold one, bucket of night crawlers, rod, rod holder and a tackle box, 3/4 Moon and fishies jumpin like crazy! I did not light a campfire because of fire hazard.
There I was sitting in my chair with rod in hand just waiting for a bite, when I hear something rustling around in the 3 foot weeds about 35 feet behind me. I could see the weeds moving but couldn’t tell what it was. I put my rod in the holder and picked up a big stick and threw it while hollering at whatever it was. I’m thinking probably fox, skunk, porcupine deer, or even a dog. It backed off so I proceeded to fish. Five minutes and I got a big bite! I hopped down the 5-foot embankment to the shoreline. I could tell it was nice in size and my adrenaline kicked in! While I’m fighting this feisty Carp, that critter came out of hiding. I landed about a 25” Carp, unhooked it and turned to see a HUGE Badger by the Rodeo about 25 Feet from me. Here I am with no protection… gun, knife, fire etc.... only MY Bounty carp that HE wanted for feast!
I’m screaming to beat hell and that thing is snarling at me!! I put my catch down and grabbed anything I could to fling at that beasty boy. It would not back off so I picked up that floppin fish and flung it up the embankment and far to my left away from the Rodeo. The Badger went for it! Thank god! In the mean time I dart far to my right and proceed to scramble up and stepped in that Badgers HOLE!!!! …Skinned both knees and sprained my right ankle! WEEHA WHOOPIE WHOOPIE! I noticed no pain but my heart was racing as I snatched my chair and tackle box and shot for the closest door of that Rodeo away from danger!
From the back seat, I watched that Badger for about 15 minutes then he dragged his stolen catch down to the hole I stumbled in. I was too scared and shakin to get out of the car to get the lantern, which was on top of the Rodeo, so I crawled through the back window and luckily could reach it. I made it home safely…without my rod holder, and I hope that bugger chokes on my bucket of night crawlers, cold one and Bounty Carp TA boot!!! NO I DID NOT FISH THE REST OF THE NIGHT!
I’m packin a gun tonight!
HAPPY FISHIN! KEEP SMILIN!
