Lonnie (CA)'s Profile > Stories > Carp Competition
I just signed up for an extreme carp fishing competition being organized by the CARP Tournament Series (www.carptournamentseries.com). It’s a 50 hour carp fishing marathon which runs day and night. You fish in 2 man teams, with the option of a 3rd member who acts as a coach/runner; helping out with rigging rods, weighing fish, and keeping the team awake where necessary (heh). In previous years is took between 2500 and 3000 lbs of carp to win the event. Of course all fish are released.I’ve spent the last few months overhauling my carp gear and reviewing just about every source of carp information I could find on the internet. The team format is also pretty cool because it encourages information sharing with your team mates so we each learn from each others experiences. I consider myself really fortunate because I’m signing on with a team which has fished several of these events already. The team I’m on is sponsored by some top name carp companies including Wychwood Carp Rods/Reels and tackle. It is promoting their recent launch into North America. It’s exciting for big companies to take an interest in the North American carp anglers because it ultimately means we’ll have better access to some of the ultra-refined equipment that carp anglers use overseas. I’ll be doing my part by sharing our pre-fishing and tournament experiences with other anglers through various websites, sport shows and articles. With the warm weather now finally settling in now in this part of the world, I hope to have some updates soon! Team Name: Wychwood Team Captain: Paul Almanza Team Members: Andrzej Tyminiewski & Lonnie King Team Support provided by: Wychwood (Carp Rods, Reels and Accessories) and Top Mix Groundbaits (www.anglersinternational.com) |
