I stated a couple of weeks ago that one of the things I like about bountyfishing is it gives me a reason to target other species of fish that I normally wouldent specifically target. I am under normal circumstances a hardcore Bass Fisherman, mainly largemouth with smallmouth coming in a close second. Aside from the Bass, I sometimes target Northerns in the winter while bass season is closed, and Trout in the spring and Fall when they are making there spawning runs up creeks and rivers. Since finding bounty fishing last month I have opened my eyes to Crappie fishing. Not to say that I never went Crappie fishing before, but I never stuck with it very long, I always ended up out in the weed beds or on boat docks pitching for largemouths. In the last couple of weeks I have fished heavier for Crappies and done fairly well and have learned some valuable techniques in doing so. One of the main reasons for fishing so heavily for Crappies has been that Canada has been whooping my butt in the Bass Categories. Consistently Igor, Big A, Salmon, Kevers, FishSlayer, Ridney,Bassnut and others put up some awsome sized Bass. Not all from Canada, but a large portion are. This is good in the fact that it inspires me to put extra effort into other categories, but dont get me wrong, im still fishing for bass as well. Tonight I went out and specifically fished for perch, I have never done this much either. I have always caught perch accidentally while fishing for other fish. I was successful for Perch, and hopefully later on this weekend I can put a Cat and or a Smallmouth on the Board. I probobaly will not put much effort into Largemouth this week due to fishing against the South, it is almost a losing Battle, although it is not impossible to take them from NY, it is improbable. Kudos to Bounty fishing for creating diversity in my fishing styles and essentially making me a better angler in the longrun. Although fishing for personal records and satisfaction is always good, it seems like competition always inspires more drive to succeed. NEVER STOP CASTING!
