When I was 8 to 14 I spent Summers in Arkansas(Ouchita Nat. Forrest) with my Grandparents.Reminds me of all the old lures(They were new back then)that I used to throw.Fire Tiger was all the craze;I remember buying a few Bomber Cranks That had the "Clear" plastic lip, throwing my first plug:Rapala minnow. Smallest one they made at the time,Caught a ton of fish on that little dude.Blue Fox Roland Martin Big Bass Spinnerbait;that thing had 2 HUGE willow blades(About shook my little arms off!)Grew up on Brackish Water(Chocolate Bayou)so,Reds,Trout(Seatrout),Flounders were the norm, along with occasional Blue Cat and Bass.Heading to Ark.meant BASS.I was so obsessed with those buckets back then. One summer,my pops and I went to Mill Creek to swim and relax in the cool water.I had that bomber rigged up so I decided to throw it for a few casts(It was a deep diver-10 to 15 ft)and I was casting in shallow water. After 3 or 4 casts I nailed a good one.She fought for about 3 min.Scooting away from my Grandpa,he was scouting me out to make sure I didnt drown.I came up off of a high bluff bank with a 7 pounder!"God D@#$ boy!Thats the biggest I've seen from this creek!"my pops yelled.Of course I was gloating like a little kid should. We transplanted that fish to my pops buddys tank(He just recently at that time, dug a new pond.Had about 3 or 4 Bass in it;but not this big.)He said the same thing when I showed him the fish.lol.That bass was caught at least over 40 times.Fishing in Mill Creek meant Smallies too.It took me a few years to figure that out until I was Crappie fishing with minnows;Had about a 2 pounder nail my cork.Thought it was a gar, until the acrobatic show began.I miss fishing that creek. Its not the same as it used to be.....
