It started out with a plan to go check some shore spots the week before the next tourny. The wife and my mother were planning on going to music in the park here in my city, ironically the bass are near where they listen to it so I came along and found the thickest pile of weeds and lily's that still had decent size pockets for pitching senkos...... Within 5 casts I had a nice 3 lber caught tossed it back kept pitching.... another small fish caught in no time, I say to myself "seems like a good bite tonight". As I say that the fishing slows down for a good half hour, started to see some nice swells over near the edge of a weedline so I toss my senko, first try get a short hit, second cast samething...... third cast I didnt even get to set my bail back over and the line is taking off at a good speed flip the bail wait to feel the weight and set the shit right out of it!!! I have had 4-4.5#'ers this year but this fish was big I had my drag locked to try to keep it up out of the thick grass I was fishing in just at that moment I wish I had a boat to move over top of it........ I watched it dive right into a mess and it was stuck.... I give a good yank hoping it would come out and SNAP there goes the tip on the Heavy 7' St.Croix I bought last year to replace my 7' shimano convergence that got snapped by a vicious tail gate slamming!!! OMG now im just thinking in my head I hope the fish is at least still there and I gave up on trying to reel it on so I set my rod back inbetween some rocks and took my shirt off and jumped in the grossiest mass of weeds I have ever been into in my life..... get to it grab my line and all I caught was a circle HOOK!!!!! BOOOO HOOOO I gave a prayer for my poor pole and said dont worry we got a 5 year warranty card with you and I MAILED IT IN CAUSE THE WIFE SAID I WOULD BREAK YOU!!!!! Lesson of the story dont set yourself up to lose fish.... I knew it was going to be impossible to get a big fish up on shore there but I was thinking with my pole again!!!
