Just another quick report on the fishing in the Sandy Creek area. This past weekend was not nothing short of unbelievable!! 8/25 Started the day in 500 fow fishing a 4 degree surface break. I put the 1st rod in and before I could get the 2nd rod in the 1st fired with a mature King. From there it was almost not stop with Kings and Bows. I ran a 3 rod set using spoons. Thats all I needed. This day "less was more". The Kings were all in the 20 to 26 lb class and the Bows were 6 to 8 lbs. On 8/26, we decided to fish the short water due to the weather forcast and the cold water had moved in. Started out in 100 fow and again within 5 minutes of setting the first rod it fired with a King. Fished a strech of water about 3 miles long. It was a steady pick all the way. Did not like the West troll so picked up each time we ran out of the fish. What was crazy about this day was that we broke off the two largest Kings of the day after seeing them jump a number of times within 10 ft of the boat and getting wrapped in the cables. OUCH!!!! These fish were not foul hooked as we could actually see the spoon hanging from the fish's mouth, they were that close. The fish we did boat were again in the 20 to 26 lb class. All Kings with one 8 lb laker and a 15 lb Coho. This weekend's fishing was absolutly nuts with the number of quality fish being caught.Spoons and a couple of SD/Fly combinations were the ticket this day. I usually do not get into the numbers thing but the fishing was HOT HOT HOT Tight Lines Pat (0 comment) |
