I tend to go down to Cabo Mexico twice a year during the summer. I invited my buddy Ryan to come down with my dad and I. We decided to go fishing one of the days we were there. We got suckered to go fishing way out in San Jose Cabo witch is about 45 mins away from strip. When we finally got there we saw the pangas being push from the sand to the ocean bay car. I had never seen that done before...
Well we took about another 1 hour boat ride to where we were going to go fishing. So we fished the whole day with only a 10 pound white tuna in the boat. We were using live bonita. We trolled a little faster to catch them using a smaller lure. They were fun to catch considering we didn't catch anything else. so we put the bonita on a big hook and threw it out. We were all passed out except for the captain when then Marlin took the bait. I was up at bat first. I fought this beast from the depths with all my energy until i couldn't grip the rod any any longer. I passed the rod to my buddy, then he gave it his best, then it was my dad. The marlin jumped a few times and when it did, it didn't come all the way out of the water.Crazy big. From seeing it jump the captain said was at least 1000 pounds. Eventually the captain jumped in to fight it. I think he wanted the fish more then we did once he realized how big it was. It eventually became night and the 8th hour of the fight was coming around. The captain after taking a nap, was last to fight it when the line broke. Anything that big and that strong deserves to live. I'm glad it broke off, it would have took at least 3 hours to drag the marlin back to land and the waves were getting bigger. The Marlin dragged us a good while from shore. I felt like the old man and the sea. When we got back to shore people were all waiting to see if we had got it, the captain had a cb radio and was talking to his friends all day. He had called his friends and told them we were still out there so all these peeps waited for us to get back to see if we got it, and besides the captain still needed to get the panga out of the water. The next day we found out the Captain took the day off, we were soar as hell and just drank and laid by the pool the next day.
