  • About Yourself
I am currently 19 yrs. old and from Grand Rapids, MI. I am an engineering student at the University of Michigan and a walk-on linebacker on the football team. I've been a fishing fanatic since my dad first took me fishing for bluegills at a local pond when I was 4 yrs. old. Since then I've caught thousands of fish and am a fly fisherman at heart. Despite this I still love to catch fish many different ways, some of my favorites include; topwater or banjo minnows for bass, shredded wheat doughballs for summer carp, spinners for trout, trolling on lake michigan for salmon, crankbaits for fresh run salmon, and bobber/bait fishing for fresh run steelhead. I have recently also taken up centerpin fishing and find it to be the most challenging style yet, but also very enjoyable. My biggest fishing accomplishment was catching the largest Master Angler salmon in the length category for the state of Michigan at 43" in I think 2004. To make it simple, I like to catch fish and I've been doing it for 15 yrs already.
  • Favorite species
Steelhead with Salmon as a close second
  • Most Memorable Fish
A 43" King Salmon I caught sophomore year of high school on the Pere Marquette River in Baldwin, MI. It is the largest fish that I've ever caught and if I had been old enough and knew about this site, it would hold down the overall bounty record. It was a beautiful mid September fall day with the leaves in full color and our trip was nearing the end. I was drifting my favorite hole with a purple and chartreuse egg-sucking leech when suddenly my line took off. It was an epic battle and my buddy was able to net the fish just as it was about to take off downstream. It barely fit in the net. We measured it, snapped a pic, and ended the day on that note. Then it dawned on me on the walk out that it was a master angler, and the rest is history.
  • Dream Fishing Trip
    Alaska of course.
  • Best excuse you ever told someone to go fishing
"I'm making an instructional fishing video for media class, so I have to go fishing...it's my homework!" ;)
