I was taught how to fish as a young boy by my Father and have passed that trait on to my oldest Son who has now passed it on to his Son, my Grandson.

  • About Yourself
I am retired and live in Pinehurst, North Carolina. I was born and raised in SW Michigan where my Father took us fishing for perch off the Pier on Lake Michigan and Ice Fishing in Winter. In my teenage years, we vacationed in the Upper Penninsula where we enjoyed catching large bluegills and fished for largemouth bass after dark.
  • Favorite species
I think the best way to describe my favorite species is simply to say what species I don't like to fish for. I am not a fan of catfish or carp and I don't particularly enjoy fishing in the ocean. I fish not only for the fun, but also to eat what I catch. The best eating fish are Walleye, Largemouth Bass and Bluegills in that order. If I don't eat what I catch, I release it back alive.
  • Most Memorable Fish
A tough question since almost every fish I catch is memorable by virtue of where it was caught, what bait was used, what the weather was that day, etc. Most recently, two years ago, I caught a 1 pound, 6 1/2 ounce bluegill on very light tackle. I had caught several other large bluegill that afternoon and it was getting late. This was the last bluegill I caught that day. We ate it for supper.
  • Dream Fishing Trip
I have always wanted to catch a large Salmon. In July, I will be going to Vancouver, BC where I will Charter a Boat and fish for Salmon. However, I am not a big fan of how this type of fishing, i.e. outriggers, etc. is done and would prefer to catch one in the River on a Fly Rod.
  • Best excuse you ever told someone to go fishing
We will have a fish fry when I get back.
