I don't get to Smt Mtn as often as I would like. I usually make 2 to 3 trips a year with a friend of mine from church. He fishes there very often at night. I have caught one over 6lbs and saw him bring in an 8lb once. We always put in at the Penhook boat ramp and go near Water's Edge Golf course. Then it gets dark and I couldn't tell you where we go. I do know we fish around what is called "Goat Island". We saw some chicks skinny dipping there one night next to a campfire. We fished that point for a while. I'll find out more and get back to you.

It's a great place to be for fishing here. Smith Mtn is only 25 minutes, buggs island is 45. there's hyco in NC that's not too far. I fish the staunton river up close to leesville damn for smallmouth in august. there is a 80acre lake, burton, just outside of chatham that has a bad reputation. people think you can't find big bass there, but you can, if you know what you're doing.

Thanks... was only 6lb 9oz but it was really pretty! put a 6-7 on today but iwasn't quite as pretty...As everyone hope more are to come!!!
